Discover the difference between custom and semi-custom wedding invitations — and find your perfect fit for beautiful, affordable luxury wedding stationery.
When you start shopping for wedding invitations, you’ll likely come across two terms: custom and semi-custom.
But what do they actually mean — and which one is right for your wedding?
At Interprintations, both options are thoughtfully designed to capture your style and elevate your celebration. The difference comes down to how much personalization and collaboration you’re looking for, as well as your personal wedding stationery budget and preferred timeline.
Custom Wedding Invitations
A custom wedding invitation suite is designed entirely from scratch — just for you. Every font, color, paper, and embellishment is carefully chosen to reflect your unique vision.
You’ll work one-on-one with me to create something truly original — whether that means watercolor artwork inspired by your venue, a bespoke monogram, hand poured wax seals, or cotton paper with hand deckled edges.
Custom wedding invitations are perfect for couples who:
- Have a distinct design vision or theme
- Want a suite that feels like a true reflection of their story
- Appreciate artisanal touches and premium materials
- Enjoy a collaborative, creative process
Semi-Custom Wedding Invitations
If you love the look of luxury paper goods but prefer a streamlined process + a more affordable price point, a semi-custom wedding invitation might be your perfect match.
This collection features pre-designed templates that can be tailored with your names, colors, and wording. You still receive the same quality printing, beautiful materials, and professional layout — just with fewer design rounds and a shorter timeline.
Semi-custom wedding invitations are perfect for couples who:
- Want something elegant and timeless without a long design process
- Have a clear wedding style but want to keep things simple
- Are planning on a shorter timeline or have a set budget
Which Option is Right for You?
Both custom and semi-custom invitations can set a stunning tone for your wedding day. It really comes down to your priorities:

✨ Final Thoughts
Whether you fall in love with one of my semi-custom designs or dream of collaborating on something fully bespoke, my goal is the same — to create stationery that feels like you. Your invitations are more than paper — they’re the prologue to your wedding story.

Taylor and Clay’s wedding at the Biltwell Event Center was a celebration bursting with color, elegance, and personal touches. Their vision perfectly captured the spirit of spring — joyful, refined, and full of fresh florals at every turn.

The couple exchanged vows and celebrated the night away at the Biltwell Event Center, one of Indianapolis’s most beloved venues. Fun fact: the Biltwell was originally built in 1922 as a window and door factory for the Adams-Rogers Company. After decades as an industrial space, it was reimagined and reopened as an event venue in 2015 — blending historic character with modern charm, the perfect backdrop for Taylor and Clay’s romantic day.
Their wedding invitations set the tone for the celebration beautifully. Printed on soft white cotton paper, the suite featured our signature Antique Gold shimmer ink — a subtle metallic that catches the light just so. A folded A2 “Details” booklet was adorned with custom watercolor florals inspired by spring blooms, and a blush pink envelope with a matching floral liner added the sweetest finishing touch. A flowing calligraphy-style font tied the entire suite together, setting the stage for a day full of grace and charm.
For the ceremony, simple tea-length programs echoed the same floral artwork and fonts as the invitations — a cohesive touch that carried through to every detail.

Inside the reception, Taylor and Clay’s guests were greeted by a playful pink arch welcome sign, accented with cascading florals climbing up the staircase — a true “wow” moment upon entry. Each place setting featured an oval die-cut menu, printed once again in our Antique Gold shimmer ink, with a delicate monogram and coordinating watercolor florals.
Blush pink seating cards guided guests to their tables, each printed in matching gold ink on cotton paper for a timeless, tactile feel. Simple white table numbers in gold shimmer ink were displayed in petite wood blocks beside lush floral centerpieces — a minimalist detail that let the flowers shine.

Overhead, a stunning floral installation hovered above the head table, brimming with color and movement, creating an unforgettable focal point that tied the entire look together.
Every element of Taylor and Clay’s day — from the stationery to the styling — felt effortlessly cohesive, romantic, and distinctly them. A spring wedding dream brought to life through thoughtful design and timeless detail.
