Are you a bride-to-be currently planning a wedding for Fall or Winter 2020? Or perhaps your already putting wedding plans in motion for 2021? We know wedding planning looks a little differently than it did this time last year, so we’re offering up some helpful, professional advice.

Below is a list of a few key elements to keep in mind as you maneuver your way through making wedding plans during these unprecedented times.

  1. Hire a wedding planner! I can’t express this one enough. It’s an investment you will never regret. It’s important to note that a wedding planner is NOT the same as a venue coordinator (or someone who’s been assigned to you by the venue or caterer). While they can sometimes be helpful in orchestrating your wedding day setup, venue employees are just that – representatives of the venue only. They have the venue’s best interest ultimately in mind, not yours! Hire a true wedding planner that is exclusively on your side, at all times. A real wedding planner will help you find most reliable vendors, coordinate your wedding weekend timeline, field all communication from your vendor team, and more. And should any changes arise due to the current COVID-19 situation, they will be the first person by your side to help sort things out seamlessly.

  2. Support local businesses! There’s never been a better time to keep your money local. This includes wedding décor, wedding photography, your wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses, bridesmaid gifts and groomsmen gifts, wedding invitations, wedding day programs and stationery, engagement rings...the list goes on.

For example, be sure to ask your venue what the procedure will be for rebooking, should COVID-19 warrant a rescheduling of your event. Will your venue transfer your retainer fee to another comparable date? Will they offer a full refund if a rescheduled date is not able to be agreed upon? Will you receive 2020 catering pricing, if you have to move your event to 2021? Be sure to cover all your bases, and make sure your vendors are willing to work with you in the event of a required rescheduling. (This is also a perfect example of where a wedding planner will be a VERY valuable asset!)

Another example - Here at InterPRINTations, we’re taking care of our custom wedding invitation clients by offering free “change the date” postcards, in the event our clients have to change their wedding date (or even just the venue) due to the current COVID-19 circumstances. (Or they can upgrade to more elegant change the date cards with envelopes for a deeply discounted price). We feel it’s the least we can do to take a little bit of the wedding planning stress off of their shoulders!

  3. Consider a small guest list. By keeping your guest list small, you allow those attending to feel more safe and allowing for more social distancing. You can also ensure those closest to you are self-quarantining before they attend your event, to keep you and your fiance, and all of your loved ones, safe during your nuptials. A smaller guest list is also easier on your wallet, which is something we're all watching lately. A small guest list doesn't mean you have to sacrifice style, either. You'll be surprised on the high-end florals, stationery and other wedding day details you can now easily afford! It's a win-win all around. (And if you're still wanting that huge celebration - consider a small ceremony and dinner this year, and a large celebration later next year, once the COVID-19 pandemic is under control!)

  4. Stay calm. Breathe. Don’t let any situation shake you. If you’ve taken the advice above, you’ve surrounded yourself with a solid group of wedding professionals. These vendors have done their research and already have a Plan B (and even a Plan C) put together, just in case any changes arise. You’re in good hands!

  5. Keep your eye on the prize – you’re marrying your true love and beginning your “happily ever after” as Mr. and Mrs. At the end of the day, don’t sweat the small stuff. Your love will make it through these trying times. A party doesn’t define your marriage! ????

If you love a wedding venue that’s full of history and charm, today’s featured wedding will make you swoon! Check out all of these amazing wedding detail recaps from Emily and Joshua's wedding day in downtown Charleston, South Carolina.

The William Aiken House, nestled along the popular King Street in downtown Charleston, is a distinguished National Historic Landmark. This beautiful house and it’s equally stunning grounds make for the most heavenly setting for a romantic Southern wedding. This Charleston wedding venue can host up to 500 guests, and boasts a private garden and two spacious courtyards for outdoor weddings and entertaining.

Emily and Joshua selected this venue for their winter nuptials, complimenting the space well with their selected wedding color palette of Dusty Blue, Blush Pink, and earthy accent tones.

THE WEDDING INVITATIONS

For their custom wedding invitations, we used a crushed velvet paper to layer behind the printed invitation card, and added a Gold Foil paint brush stroke to the invitation itself, adding a bit of a soft, artistic vibe to the custom invitation suite. We then carried out that same Gold Foil element onto the clients’ Blush Pink shimmer envelope liner. (PRO TIP: Gold Foil in small details is affordable, and still adds a luxurious look to your wedding invitations).

The clients also opted for custom calligraphy for the guest addresses on their mailing envelopes, using a darker Dusty Blue ink. Finishing off the look were vintage stamps in an array of Dusty Blue, Blush Pink, and earthy neutral tones on the invitation envelopes. Oh, how I wish we had snapped a picture before we mailed them - words do not do them justice! It was the prettiest color combination. I’m sure guests were truly WOWed upon their arrival!

WEDDING DAY

The couple tied the knot in the private gardens, with a small group of their closest family and friends in attendance. Their wedding ceremony program booklets were tied closed with a Dusty Rose crushed velvet ribbon - a texture we continued to carry out throughout the rest of their wedding day paperie.

Immediately after the ceremony, guests made their way to the courtyard, where family style reception tables awaited. Romantic lighting from varying heights of tapered candles and votives added the perfect amount of sparkle to the early evening dining experience. The florals were nested into vintage metal compotes, and featured a variety of floral textures and unique color tones to coordinate with the wedding day style. The tables boasted the most incredible linens – just look at that Blush Pink silk tablecloth! Ooo la la. This setup practically transports you to a French countryside, it’s so romantic and chic.

Waiting at each place setting was a velvet-backed vellum place card, featuring each guest’s name in custom calligraphy.

The bride and groom, along with their guests, continued the evening wedding celebration with a delightly delicious cake (adorned with a few sprigs of those amazing florals). Hours of dancing later ensued under the courtyard’s beautiful lighting.
