While cramming in another late night work session last night, one of my fave SATC episodes was airing – you know, the one where it’s suddenly Fall? Carrie says it perfectly…

“….even before the first leaf falls, you can feel the seasons click. The air is crisp, the summer is gone. And for the first night in a long time, you need a blanket on your bed.”

That’s exactly where we are right now. And I love this feeling. Cooler temps & hoodies. Everything is pumpkin flavored & scented. It makes my heart feel warm and fuzzy knowing that cozy sweaters, pumpkin patches, football games and many cups of hot cocoa are now in season. It’s no coincidence that the first full day of Autumn AND my birthday coincide. My mom always tells me I was a couple of weeks overdue – I think I was just waiting around for Fall. =)

For many people, this season signifies the end of summer break, the end of warm weather, and the beginning of the end of another year. But for me, I’ve always felt more refreshed during Fall than any other season. When I was in college, I always loved Fall semester – new classes, new faces, and sometimes even a new place to live. I would reunite with my sorority sisters for recruitment & other fun semester happenings. Just thinking about it all makes me want to go back….even just for one day. There was something absolutely exciting and intoxicating about each Fall semester at Purdue.

So, here I am, curled up with my laptop and sipping my first hot chocolate of the season {Thanks to my wonderful husband for this delicious birthday treat!}. A fresh season is exactly what I needed to rejuvenate, restart, and refuel my creativity. I’m suddenly oozing with loads of ideas & I can’t wait to get the down on paper and into motion.

Ahhhh…….
Fall, you are exactly what my heart, soul, and tired, over-worked brain needed right now. =)

Now that the season has shifted, how are you spending this first full day of Autumn?

Best,

Thank you notes are one of the most important tasks post-wedding – so, as you get ready to write those thank you notes for you upcoming wedding & bridal shower, here are a few tips to keep in mind…

DON’T print out your thank you notes.

DO hand-write them.

DON’T send the same, generic thank you note to each guest.

DO tell them how grateful you are for their personal gift, and how you plan to use it.

DON’T wait longer than 3 months to send your thank-you notes. (per Emily Post)

DO send them out as soon as possible, after the wedding date. (For showers – we recommend sending them within 2 weeks after the shower date.)

DON’T address a cash gift directly. Instead, simply thank them for their generosity.

DO send one to every guest that attended – whether they brought you a gift or not.

Finally…

DON’T underestimate the power of a thank you note! It’s the easiest way to express your sincere gratitude – not only for the personal gift, but also for the gift giver themselves. Their presence at your big day is what makes it so special, so be sure to let them know how grateful you are for their attendance! =)

Happy Tuesday, friends!

On the first Tuesday of every month, join me in my new blog series, Tuesday Typography. Here, I’ll share with you my favorite typography finds & how to make them your own. Because a gorgeous font can brighten everyone’s day, am I right?

In my inaugural post, I’d like to introduce you to my first true {font} love. Meet Carolyna Pro Black….

Isn’t she gorgeous?! It’s one of many in the ever-popular Emily Lime font series, and is a great play on handwritten calligraphy. It’s also quite the popular script font for modern wedding invites, and pairs well with most san serif fonts. I can’t tell you how often my brides send inspirational photos that include this lovely font!

If you just HAVE to have it (like I did!), you can purchase & download it here —-> Carolyna Pro Black

Enjoy & happy typing! =)
