As a creative business owner and wedding professional, one of the best things about my job is forming relationships with other wedding industry professionals. Technology and social media are key tools in creating and maintaining these valuable relationships, and even allow us to expand those formed relationships outside of our area.
As most know, we love the “Low Country” – Southern South Carolina and Northern Georgia, namely the Hilton Head, SC and Savannah, GA areas. We vacation there in the Spring, Summer and Fall. We also have family that lives there, so we enjoy visiting them often! Thanks to social media, it has also allowed us the opportunity to follow and interact with fellow wedding professionals down in that area – leading to the opportunity to work with a handful of great wedding professionals in the low country.

This past Spring – the perfect season for an outdoor wedding ceremony in Charleston, by the way – we collaborated with Magnolia Affairs for a beautiful outdoor elopement wedding ceremony.
This special day took place at the historical Magnolia Plantation & Gardens. The grounds consist of a grand and historic house, nestled among sprawling natural gardens. The plantation is located on the Ashley River at 3550 Ashley River Road, west of Ashley, Charleston County, South Carolina. Not only is it one of the oldest plantations in the South, it is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The couple chose a tranquil spot out in the gardens for their elopement wedding ceremony, post-wedding photos, and a romantic picnic celebration following the ceremony. Their picnic consisted of small bites, champagne and a mini wedding cake for the traditional cake cutting photos.

Considering an elopement ceremony, like the one above?
If you are an engaged couple considering an elopement ceremony instead of a big shindig, my best wedding advice to you is do whatever is best for the two of you. Ultimately, your wedding day is yours, and should be exactly as you want it to be. It seems that the second you get engaged, there is instantly so much pressure from everyone around you to plan a big wedding. Your friends and family will all have an opinion on what you "need" to do on your wedding day, but you have to remember that it is just that: YOUR day.
If you do choose to do an elopement wedding ceremony, we have a few tips on making it the best wedding day ever:
  1. Hire a professional photographer! Your wedding photos will be treasured forever, no matter who or who does not attend your ceremony.
  2. Hire a wedding planner! They will be instrumental in pulling together all of the little details that will make your day SO special, and a perfect reflection of you as a couple. They will coordinate your vendors (officiant, location, florist) and take a load of other tasks off your plate.
  3. Send announcement cards after the wedding! Even though you opted for a lovely, intimate elopement ceremony, your family and friends will still want to feel they were a thought of on your wedding day.
  4. Invest in a pretty bouquet! This is a great opportunity to reflect your personal style and bring more romance into your big day. What’s a wedding without flowers (no matter the size of your guest list)?
  5. Have a celebration of some sort after the wedding ceremony! Even if it’s just the two of you at this celebration, we highly recommend going out for dinner or having a special spot for a champagne toast. Make the most of your special day!

If you're looking for a unique venue in the Indianapolis area, we highly recommend considering Daniel's Vineyard - a close and convenient option if you're guests are coming from Carmel, Fishers, or anywhere on the Northside.
To showcase this lovely venue, we just had to share this beautiful day from 2018!
This clear acrylic wedding invitation set the tone perfectly for the bride & groom's special day. While the fonts themselves are romantic and elegant, the modern lucite material keeps it more modern. This invitation was paired with custom black matte envelope with a die cut flap, which featured a full floral envelope liner. Talk about some "WOW" factors in an invitation!

On the big day, the couple started off their wedding photos with a stroll through the grapevines at Daniel's Vineyard. What a serene setting for their pre-wedding portraits! Talk about a romantic photo op. Michelle from Rakoteet Photography captured the love between the happy couple perfectly.
Isn't the bride's bouquet magnificent? It doesn't get any more romantic than those red roses and burgundy floral accents. The florals for this wedding were provided by our friend Keatha at Knox Flowers. If you're looking for a florist who has a classic and romantic style, she's your girl! She always knows how to pull together the wedding style and colors perfectly into the wedding flowers. She has many years of experience as a Central Indiana florist, and we always get SO excited when we hear our clients have booked her - she is one of the best in the business.
One of the perks of having your wedding at Daniel's Vineyard - the wine! They have a variety to choose from, and you never have to worry about them running out during your reception. They can also steer you in the direction of which wines will pair best with your selected wedding reception menu. Perhaps you could even gift your guests with a bottle to take home? If you appreciate good wine, this wedding venue is perfect for you!
For the reception, Keatha at Knox Flowers provided a combination of tall floral-adorned candelabra centerpieces and shorter centerpieces, varying by table. The event stylist, Brooke from Uncommonly Styled, completed the wedding reception tables with a variety of details and textures. For the shorter centerpeices, she paired them with black pillar candles and candle holders for romantic eye-level candlelight. Unique textures and details were added in the form of fresh artichokes and figs, along with black stemware and metallic votive holders.
For the newlyweds and their wedding reception guests, we created an oval wedding menu card to go at each place setting. The menu featured burgundy and soft red florals, printed with a black background and white text. Completing our clients' custom wedding menu card was a scripted monogram printed at the top. All of the fonts matched those used on their clear wedding invitation, and the florals matched those used in the invitation envelope, ensuring all printed materials are cohesive in design. (Coordinating details such as these are SO important when branding and styling your wedding day!)
For this special day, we also teamed up with Brooke at Uncommonly Styled for a custom photo backdrop sign. The backdrop was placed behind the head table as an accent piece, and was later moved and served as a photo booth area for wedding guests. The backdrop featured a faux brick wall, along with a laser cut wood sign we created. The phrase "the best is yet to come" was selected by the bride and groom, as it has special meaning to the couple.
This event's style and color scheme were so unique - it was a blast to coordinate with all vendors listed below. It's amazing what a great wedding vendor team can pull off on wedding day!! Congrats to the happy couple!

You can never go wrong with a classic black and white wedding, especially when you toss in elegant dashes of golds and soft neutrals. This was the color palette our clients, Jennie & Mark, selected for their nuptials in downtown Indianapolis.
Their special day began with a full mass Catholic wedding ceremony at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in downtown Indianapolis. This church is one of our favorite ceremony spots in the Indianapolis area. The historical cathedral is simply breathtaking and a perfect setting for something as intimate and sacred as a wedding ceremony. For their wedding ceremony, we created a folded program booklet, featuring the couple's monogram on the front. We added elegance to the program booklet with a thin black satin ribbon tied around the binding. It set the tone perfectly for what was to come....

After the ceremony, guests made their way to the Indiana Repertory Theater (one of our favorite wedding reception venues!). They were greeted by a beautiful welcome sign printed onto an antique mirror, live music from Endless Summer Band, and a cocktail hour - complete with a custom signature drink themed for the bride and groom.
Following the lively cocktail hour, guests received a glass of champagne, which also doubled as their seating escort card...leading them to their designated table and seat in the reception area. The theater was decorated with an abundance of string lights (always a romantic touch!), soft white floral centerpiece arrangements and accents by The Empty Vase, black chivari chairs, and beautiful uplighting. Each guest's place setting was personalized and marked with a laser cut gold mirror acrylic name plate, which doubles as a keepsake from the evening. Tucked into each guest's black silk napkin was a custom menu card, featuring the couple's wedding crest printed in metallic gold foil. (Their menu card also included a personal thank you note from the bride & groom - an addition we highly recommend! It ensures your guests know just how much you appreciate their attendance & how much you're looking forward to celebrating the evening with them.)

The couple's wedding cake was created by the ever popular Heavenly Sweets, located in Noblesville. The bride and groom kept the overall cake style to a classic look, with subtle textures and monochromatic ribbon and monogram. The Empty Vase also added a few floral touches, to soften the overall look.

Jennie & Mark's special day was planned and pulled together beautifully by the team at Jessica Dum Weddings. It's always lovely working with Jessica and her talented team, and we know our clients are always in great care when the select her as their day-of wedding coordinator.
