I'm going to step down from my wedding paper soapbox, and put on a different hat for a second. I've been part of the Indianapolis wedding scene since 2009. I've seen it all, brides. And I'll tell you one piece of advice that is applicable to all shapes and styles of weddings.
Hire a planner!
Whether it's a full service planning package or a "month of" service, you will thank yourself later. Ten fold.
Whether it's a full service planning package or a "month of" service, you will thank yourself later. Ten fold.
(Quick note: Don't confuse a "wedding planner" with "venue coordinator." The latter is a great resource, but keep in mind that they work for the venue, not you! Hiring a planner with your best interest in mind is key.)
A wedding planner will help you with ALL THE THINGS! Here's a snippet....
- HELPING YOU STAY IN BUDGET
Every great planner has excellent go-to vendors for brides of every price point. If they don't, they haven't done their research & you need to find one that has. - KEEPING YOU ON TRACK
From vendor deadlines, to wedding invitation mailing dates, to the wedding day timeline, your planner has perfected her organizational skills and will make sure everything runs smoothly. Keeping your stress level way down & allowing you to savor the more important moments. - BRINGING YOUR STYLE TO LIFE
You have a vision, but we all know making big wedding decisions can be stressful! Your planner will take your vision and advise on what details will work best, as well as be honest on what will not. Pick her brain! This isn't her first go-round. ;-)
If you're on the fence about hiring a planner, I hope you'll consider hiring one! They are worth their weight in gold. This is your big day, and this is one small investment that you'll be forever happy you made.

While we see many of our wedding stationery clients wed here in Indianapolis, occasionally we ship out our paperie to clients getting married abroad! Destination wedding stationery is SO fun!
Besty and Elliott wed amidst the breathtaking backdrop of Newtown Castle in Ireland, withhelp from the ladies from Boldly Chic Events during all of the wedding week events. The couple's greenery wedding invitations were a great segway into the greenery backdrop of their Ireland wedding. For their wedding events, we then created matching ceremony programs, menus, seating cards, welcome bag itinerary cards, and miscellaneous signs to display throughout the week.
Here are the beautiful recap photos from [K] Photography!

Staying on track during the wedding planning process is KEY! No bride wants to be tying up loose ends during the weeks leading up to wedding day.

One of the first items we provide clients for their wedding stationery is a proposed timeline. It looks a little something like this...

DESIGNING & ORDERING YOUR SAVE-THE-DATES
These beauties can be ordered between 4-12 months before the big day. If you're planning to do a custom design, be sure to add on about 6-8 additional weeks to your timeline, to allow ample time for designing and production.
DESIGNING & ORDERING YOUR INVITATIONS
The biggest element of your stationery order! If you're working with a designer for custom invitations, we recommend beginning the design process 4-5 months before you'd like these in-hand. Once you've completed the proofing process and submitted your order, production tends to take anywhere from 4-8 weeks (depending on the intricacy of your wedding invites).
WHEN TO MAIL YOUR INVITATIONS
For some reason, there are blogs and websites that try to talk you into mailing these out WAY too early. They're wrong! These should be mailing 6-8 before your big day. If you're planning a destination wedding (100% of your wedding guests are traveling), then this can be increased to 10 weeks. (Anything mailed sooner than that should only be a save-the-date!)
DESIGNING AND ORDERING YOUR WEDDING DAY STATIONERY
As soon as you've mailed out the invites, it's the perfect time to switch gears and start planning for your wedding programs, seating cards, table numbers, and all other wedding day paper elements. Be sure to complete the proofing process and place your order no later than 6 weeks before the big day. (Seating card details should be submitted about 2 weeks before wedding day.)
We tend to prefer hand-delivery of wedding day items to our clients local to Indianapolis. However, for our remote clients, we recommend Overnight or 2nd Day Air shipping - just to ensure everything arrives in ample time!
