Summertime is a divine time to get married in central Indiana. The weather is at it's warmest, the foliage is at it's boldest greens. Not to mention, it's prime time for weddings in the midwest. Our bride and groom, Annaka and Nicholas, chose a very classic wedding color palette of black and white, and it worked perfectly with the summer backdrop at Black Iris Estate in Indianapolis, Indiana.

 

 

For their wedding flowers and bridesmaids dresses, they infused a dash of color with Blush Pink and Candy Pink tones. The silk ribbon and satin ribbon on their wedding floral bouquets were so elegant! Annika loves both a modern wedding style and classic wedding style, and did a perfect job of blending both wedding styles together. We even love her choice of elegant, understated wedding jewelry! Annaka has a great sense of style.

 

Her custom wedding invitations featured a simple black border around the edges of the invitation card itself. Each piece was printed on Bright White cotton cardstock, to add a soft and elegant look to the invitation suite. The bundled invitation cards were held together with a shimmery metallic vellum band and a bold black monogrammed wax seal. All invitation pieces were flat printed in black matte ink.

 

 

Black Iris Estate has many black wrought iron elements throughout their grounds. They make for a perfect backdrop of wedding photos! They also played so well into Annika and Nicholas' black and white wedding color palette. To brighten up their wedding reception setting, the bride and groom chose white folding chairs for guests to be seated. The aisle was accented by greenery sprigs, blush silk ribbon, and soft white rose petals. All of these elements came together for a luxurious summer wedding setting.

 

 

 

One item the bride and groom had their heart set on for wedding day was a live painter at their ceremony. What a beautiful way to remember your first wedding moments. Their painter captured their wedding flowers and the Black Iris Estate venue so vibrantly. If I could go back in time, I would steal this idea - I would have loved a piece like this to remember my wedding day by. <3 

 

 

Annaka and Nicholas had to sneak in a few peaceful moments between their wedding ceremony and reception (we don't blame them, wedding day can be crazy!). They enjoyed their quiet moments in the back gardens of Black Iris Estate while guests enjoyed summer beverages during cocktail hour inside the estate home.

 

 

The interior of this estate wedding venue in Indianapolis needs no over-the-top decor. The lighting and colors inside the wedding reception hall is already perfection! Annika and Nicholas chose soft and subtle flower centerpieces for each guest table, along with a pop of bold Black with their napkin linen rentals. For each place setting, they finished them off with custom Black and White menu cards with modern fonts.

 

 

 

 

A great way to upgrade your tables and add texture is be adding in various metallics. You'll see throughout their wedding decor, they incorporated subtle copper and other metallics to their wedding table votives, candleabras, and other wedding decor accents.

 

 

Wedding guests were guided to their table by a custom seating chart sign. We placed this in a black easel provided by the Black Iris Estate venue. Each guest's name was accompanied by their table assignment, making the transition from cocktail hour to dinner hour perfectly seamless. Pro Tip: If you are anticipating an attendance of 175 or more at your wedding reception, we recommend ordering 2 charts for your wedding reception. This will prevent a huge crowd hovering around one single chart.

Pro Tip: Hire a seasoned photographer who doesn't over edit or over filter their images, and is well-versed in photographing in low light settings. I mean, look at this night time shot above?! What an incredible frameworthy wedding moment captured.

If you love a wedding venue that’s full of history and charm, today’s featured wedding will make you swoon! Check out all of these amazing wedding detail recaps from Emily and Joshua's wedding day in downtown Charleston, South Carolina.

 

 

The William Aiken House, nestled along the popular King Street in downtown Charleston, is a distinguished National Historic Landmark. This beautiful house and it’s equally stunning grounds make for the most heavenly setting for a romantic Southern wedding. This Charleston wedding venue can host up to 500 guests, and boasts a private garden and two spacious courtyards for outdoor weddings and entertaining.  

 

Emily and Joshua selected this venue for their winter nuptials, complimenting the space well with their selected wedding color palette of Dusty Blue, Blush Pink, and earthy accent tones.

 

 

 

For their custom wedding invitations, we used a crushed velvet paper to layer behind the printed invitation card, and added a Gold Foil paint brush stroke to the invitation itself, adding a bit of a soft, artistic vibe to the custom invitation suite. We then carried out that same Gold Foil element onto the clients’ Blush Pink shimmer envelope liner. (PRO TIP: Gold Foil in small details is affordable, and still adds a luxurious look to your wedding invitations).

 

The clients also opted for custom calligraphy for the guest addresses on their mailing envelopes, using a darker Dusty Blue ink. Finishing off the look were vintage stamps in an array of Dusty Blue, Blush Pink, and earthy neutral tones on the invitation envelopes. Oh, how I wish we had snapped a picture before we mailed them - words do not do them justice! It was the prettiest color combination. I’m sure guests were truly WOWed upon their arrival!

 

 

 

 

The couple tied the knot in the private gardens, with a small group of their closest family and friends in attendance. Their wedding ceremony program booklets were tied closed with a Dusty Rose crushed velvet ribbon - a texture we continued to carry out throughout the rest of their wedding day paperie.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Immediately after the ceremony, guests made their way to the courtyard, where family style reception tables awaited. Romantic lighting from varying heights of tapered candles and votives added the perfect amount of sparkle to the early evening dining experience. The florals were nested into vintage metal compotes, and featured a variety of floral textures and unique color tones to coordinate with the wedding day style. The tables boasted the most incredible linens – just look at that Blush Pink silk tablecloth! Ooo la la. This setup practically transports you to a French countryside, it’s so romantic and chic.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Waiting at each place setting was a velvet-backed vellum place card, featuring each guest’s name in custom calligraphy.

 

 

The bride and groom, along with their guests, continued the evening wedding celebration with a delightly delicious cake (adorned with a few sprigs of those amazing florals). Hours of dancing later ensued under the courtyard’s beautiful lighting.
